Position Overview
As a Backend Node.js Engineer, you will work closely with our product and engineering teams to build and enhance scalable backend solutions. Your main focus will be on developing serverless applications, managing webhooks, and integrating third-party services such as Plaid and Stripe. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong backend background, particularly in Node.js, AWS, Lambda, and serverless architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services within Node.js and similar
- Build and optimize serverless applications using AWS Lambda
- Integrate third-party services like Plaid and Stripe APIs for payment and financial data handling
- Implement, maintain, and monitor webhooks for real-time data and message exchange
- Ensure high-performance, responsiveness, and scalability of server-side applications
- Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless API integration of user-facing elements with server logic
- Administer and enhance existing AWS infrastructure, ensuring scalability and security
- Development of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automating build and deployment processes including github integration.
- Write clean, maintainable code with a focus on security and performance
- Debug and optimize application performance, ensuring smooth and secure transaction flows
- Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and ensure best practices
- Stay up-to-date with the latest backend development trends and best practices
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, preferably in Node.js (5+ years)
- Prior experience in the fintech industry, B2B and eCommerce
- Hands-on experience integrating Plaid and Stripe APIs
- Understanding of security and compliance best practices in financial applications
- Strong experience with AWS services, particularly Lambda and other serverless components
- Hands-on experience integrating webhooks and third-party APIs
- Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and designing RESTful APIs
- Experience with authentication, authorization, and security best practices in financial applications
- Ability to write well-documented, clean, and testable code
Nice to Have:
- Stripe administration experience
- Knowledge of additional payment gateways or financial APIs
