Hey welcome back to another episode of stories of Tribe investing Season Two. We're about to interview Lynn-Ann who helps empower women through tribe investing. Stay tuned for this one. 

Lynn-Ann, can you kind of give me an idea of why, what your passion is with investing?

The why is that I've been involved in venture capital primarily in the seed and early stage side of it for years and find myself often to be the only woman in the room. So my goal was twofold to help local female founders raise money or close out rounds because I knew I couldn't do you know $500,000 from this group, but we could certainly be the last $100,000 in a round for example. 

But my other really more important goal was to get the women in this town and in this region, more comfortable writing individual checks to founders. So a group of 25 Angel investors has now morphed into 60 women all accredited, and I screen deals that have female founders that are doing pre seed rounds and show them to the group and the group and individually individual members of the group that decide which deals they're going to invest in when I found Tribevest, it looked like it would be a great solution. For what I needed and it has turned out I've done one investment through it so far, and it's ideal, and the thing that's most valued to me, quite honestly is the banking.

Sounds like you were Tribevesting before Tribevesting was the thing.

I was totally Tribevesting before it was a thing. And if I could have figured out what you guys have figured out with regard to the bank relationship, which I just didn't have the time or patience to deal with it. Yeah, sure. I could have created a Tribevest but you guys did it and it's awesome. And I've been recommending it to anyone else who has, I mean, people are doing these investment groups now more and more. And so I do think that, you know, people are starting from scratch each time and trying to figure out how to do it and so you guys are a perfect solution.

So how long have you had a tribe?

Well, with you guys, I've had a tribe for just a couple of months. I've been doing this kind of work with this group since 2015.

Gotcha. Gotcha. 

Yeah. So I'll be doing it more. All of them. My future ones all to Tribevest.

And where are we headed?

I polled the group and I think that quite frankly they like investing on their own for like picking and choosing their deals. So for now, I think I'm just going to continue to run it as I have. And with Tribevest as the backbone. I think it'll make it a lot more streamlined. So you know, because I do all of this for no compensation. I just do it because I think it's important and I want to support female founders and also get women writing checks.

Today is certainly inspiring to me. And I think that's awesome that you're helping people just just for the sake of helping them and empowering them. Thank you.
